Reading accounts such as Anne Frank's diary encourages the teenagers to record their own experiences of violence, discrimination, family difficulties and hope. Their journal entries reveal lives often dismissed by the education system and the growing understanding that emerges when they listen to one another. Combined with Gruwell's narrative, the diaries document a classroom becoming a community through writing. This twentieth anniversary edition includes additional entries and an introduction by Gruwell, returning to the Freedom Writers' experiences and the lasting influence of a project built around giving young people a voice.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"The Value Junction ","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":68128108511444,"sku":"TVJ-035784","price":11.5,"currency_code":"NZD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0721\/3059\/2980\/files\/TVJ-035784-1.jpg?v=1793150766","url":"https:\/\/thevaluejunction.co.nz\/products\/the-freedom-writers-diary-20th-anniversary-edition-gruwell","provider":"The Value Junction ","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
