All Together Now by Monica McInerney

Warm and witty stories of life’s unexpected turns

Monica McInerney brings her eye for family dynamics, awkward encounters and the surprises of ordinary life to this collection of short fiction. Characters find themselves caught between what they intend and what actually happens, as relationships, secrets and misunderstandings open the way to comic or moving discoveries. The shorter form allows a small incident to become the turning point in a life, while the inclusion of the novella Odd One Out gives a longer view of belonging and difference within a family. McInerney’s characteristic warmth does not overlook disappointment or friction; instead, humour and sympathy help reveal what people mean to one another. All Together Now offers varied, self-contained reading for those who enjoy contemporary stories shaped by affection, recognisable dilemmas and an unexpected change of perspective.
