Furniture by Lorraine Mariner

Sharp, surprising poems reveal the everyday's strangeness

Excellent Condition - Covers show light rubbing and minor edge/corner wear.

Lorraine Mariner's first full-length poetry collection finds unexpected possibilities in ordinary life and the fleeting thoughts that often pass without being spoken. Her poems combine an alert eye with a distinctive comic imagination, allowing familiar experiences to shift into something strange, disarming or quietly surreal. Wit and precision give the collection its energy, while a willingness to follow unusual turns of thought makes even everyday subjects feel newly seen. Moving between humour and more unsettling moments, Furniture invites readers to pay attention to the oddness concealed within the commonplace. It introduces a poetic voice capable of catching the thoughts we recognise but may struggle to articulate ourselves.
