Gently with the Innocents by Alan Hunter

An old house draws Gently into danger

Good Condition - Covers show light scuffing and worn corners and a crease near the upper front corner.

An elderly man's death at the foot of a staircase brings George Gently to a rambling house surrounded by rumours of hidden treasure. What might first appear to be a straightforward inquiry soon becomes tangled in the interests of people drawn to the property, including a watchful antiques dealer and others with reasons to conceal their intentions. As further deaths disturb the investigation, Gently must look beyond the stories attached to the house and examine the motives of those around it. Alan Hunter's mystery combines the atmosphere of an old property with a patient detective's search for the truth.
