Matthew McConaughey draws on decades of journals to assemble a memoir of experiences, missteps, family stories and discoveries that have shaped his way of living. Moving between childhood, acting, relationships and periods of deliberate exploration, he looks for the lessons contained in moments that initially seemed inconvenient or disappointing. The image of a green light becomes a way of thinking about opportunity, timing and the changing meaning of obstacles. Anecdotes sit alongside personal reflections and observations, giving the book a loose, energetic structure rather than a conventional sequence of career milestones. McConaughey’s voice is candid, humorous and philosophical, inviting readers into the process by which he has tried to recognise what matters and make a life that feels fully his own.
