Lavalava by Lino Nelisi

One familiar garment connects a loving family

Good Condition - Reader with scuffed/marked covers, corner creases and light edge wear.

A child introduces family members through the lavalava they wear during everyday activities. Grandpa puts one on to take the dog for a walk, Grandma wears hers while gardening, and the familiar garment becomes a thread connecting the people and routines of family life. Lino Nelisi's simple, repeated sentences support beginning readers as they recognise patterns and use the illustrations to follow meaning. Elspeth Alix Batt's pictures bring warmth and detail to the domestic scenes, showing the lavalava as a natural part of the characters' world. Published in the Ready to Read series, this short book offers a positive reflection of Pacific family experience and a welcoming opportunity to read, recognise relationships and talk about the things families share.
