Church murders draw Morse into a puzzling case
Vintage Fair Condition - Covers are rubbed, worn and creased, with price stickers. Pages are heavily browned and foxed, and the front inner hinge is split. Published 1980.
A churchwarden is murdered at St Frideswide's in Oxford, and a second death appears to provide a convenient explanation for the crime. Inspector Morse is unconvinced by the apparent solution, however, and begins looking more closely at the church and the people associated with it. Further deaths deepen the mystery, while his interest in cleaner Ruth Rawlinson adds a personal complication to the investigation. Colin Dexter sets Morse a case involving misleading appearances, concealed relationships and a series of events that refuse to fit the obvious account, turning a quiet parish into the centre of a complex murder inquiry.
