Fiona Kidman opens a window onto her life in this collection of poems, drawing readers towards the family, friends and places that have shaped her experience. Her attention to the particular creates connections with the reader's own memories and relationships, allowing personal subjects to carry a wider resonance. Affection, reflection and the significance of familiar places give the poems their intimate character, while carefully observed moments invite a slower, more attentive reading. This Change in the Light offers another way to encounter the voice of a distinguished New Zealand writer, bringing the people and landscapes she has loved into a collection that finds shared meaning in individual experience.
