The Silent World of Nicholas Quinn by Colin Dexter

Morse enters Oxford's secretive world of examinations

Fair to Goos Condition - Heavily rubbed/chipped cover edges, corner creases and spine wear. pages are good.

Nicholas Quinn's appointment to the Oxford Examinations Syndicate should mark a promising stage in his career. Deaf, capable and newly arrived in an insular professional circle, he has qualities that make him memorable to the people around him. When he is found dead at his North Oxford home, Chief Inspector Morse is faced with an investigation complicated by uncertain timings and colleagues whose connections are far from straightforward. The examination organisation's respectable appearance offers little assurance that its members are telling the truth. Colin Dexter brings Morse into a carefully constructed mystery of observation, professional secrets and deception, where understanding what Quinn knew may prove more important than the obvious circumstances of his death.
