Parting Breath by Catherine Aird

A university disturbance becomes a puzzling murder case

Very Good Condition - Light cover rubbing, minor corner/edge wear and browned page edges.

Detective Inspector C. D. Sloan expects difficulties when he is called to Calleford University, where student unrest has already unsettled the campus. The situation becomes far more serious when a dead student is discovered, leaving him to investigate within an institution whose respectable exterior conceals plenty of complications. Among those who may assist is a professor with a striking interest in magic, while academic relationships and the events surrounding the death offer uncertain clues. Catherine Aird combines the traditional detective puzzle with dry humour and a recognisable cast of university personalities. Sloan must work through the distractions to establish what happened, and why a young person's life ended in the middle of the disturbance.
